It's an odd one, today. The sun comes out for less than a minute then tucks back behind clouds again. It's super windy then completely calm, and the temperature stays cool. What a strange spring day. It's such a joy to start seeing colors appear in lawns, along sidewalks. I see big plots of dirt and dead leaves and can imagine gardeners dreaming up their summer selection.

What to put there, what to skip this year, what to take a chance with, what to plant. . .
And in the midst of garden planning and life planning something happens that you never expected. And then what do you do?
The second earthquake in Nepal.
My high school friend Kate's riding accident.
As you sit in front of the screen in shock you know they are shaking in the deep tremble of each aftershock.
And you tremble too.
That easily could have been me and could have been you.
All the worries about everyday things are seen for the frivolous pursuit that they are. And your heart keeps beating because he is keeping you alive, who knows for how long, but suddenly you're aware that He is all that matters.
We are in the presence of God. That is all that matters. . .
Our gardens matter too. What we do each day matters so we plan and plot and plant and take care of what he has given us, strive to live as he has commanded us, and work with our hands. Grab your gardening gloves with the Word and Spirit as your trusted tools. Trying to live without fear, confident, trusting, and careful not to let what this world offers suck our souls away and take our attention over our true treasure. Father forgive us. Heal and restore our hearts.
"Give thanks to the Lord for he is good." Psalm 107:1

Praise Him for Him. Even when nothing seems to make any sense at all.
In this world with unexplainable pain, we can have joy, because of our salvation. We can cry and feel excruciating pain and we can laugh, be silly, not take ourselves too seriously. It's an unscripted by us, human life full of every flavor
and our Creator loves us no matter what.
“The great thing to remember is that though our feelings come and go God's love for us does not."
-C.S Lewis
